Documentation required to import a car into Zimbabwe:
The following documents are required to be produced on importation:-

Invoice/agreement of sale

Police clearance – SARPCO Certificate (when imported from a country in Southern Africa

Export bill of entry and supporting documents

Registration book (in the case of used motor vehicles)- (if you do not have original log book you pay $100.00)

Selling commission

Brokerage

Storage

Handling

Documentation

Freight (up to the place of importation, only when the vehicle is not driven to such place of importation)

Insurance (up to the place of importation

Once you have this information and documents, you are ready clear your car. Clearing can be done in person or through

a Freight Agent. The choice is yours. If you choose to do it yourself, please be aware that you must have plenty of time, as Plumtree Border post staff are not some of the fastest in processing car clearance. Average waiting time at Plumtree ranges from one day to 4 days. Some of the delays are really caused by people not bringing correct paperwork. Thanks for the valuable information and thanks for correcting the perception that you will pay less duty if you use Plumtree. I don't know who started this rumour. We have been exporting Toyota Hilux Vigo, Toyota Fortuner and Mazda BT-50 from our Thailand office, Toyota Landcruiser from our Australia office and Mercedes and other luxury cars from our UK office for quite a few years to Zimbabwe and this year Plumtree border crossing has become very popular. I always advise my customers to get a Customs clearance agency BEFORE the vehicle arrives in Walvis Bay, Beira or Durban. A good agent will make sure that all the paperwork is ready days before they are needed. It is money well worth spent. I have discovered that these agents are able to get lower duty because they know all the rules and exemptions.
